🐟 Welcome to Nerdwell Lake! 🐟 You've found a strange book that seems to be indicating eight species of fish inhabiting the lake - but all other records point to only seven. Your curiosity peaked, you pick up your fishing rod and head out to the waters...

🖱 Controls: 🖱 The controls are very simple - click on the water to begin fishing, and when you hear a bite, click again to begin reeling! From there, you'll need to click on a series of buttons with the correct timing in order to land the catch. Once you've landed a fish, press the spacebar to open up your journal and see what you've caught!

⚠️A quick disclaimer ⚠️- this 'game' isn't much of a game - it's really a mechanical prototype for a much larger and more in depth fishing game project I've now started working on. There isn't any progression or goal to this prototype, but the Fishing Jam finally gave me the motivation to work out and test a lot of the potential systems I'm considering for the full game. This is probably the first game jam where I forced myself to stop working early and avoid getting in over my head with too much complexity in the time limit.

I acknowledge that it's pretty shallow (pun unintended) at the moment, but hopefully is a good bit of short fun - and this should help pave the way for some fun things in the full game to come!

Nice work chaos! Look forward to seeing where you take it from here.

This game is pretty cool, and I actually enjoyed playing it. However, at the start, it was a bit tricky to understand ho-to-play the game, but later on, it was quick to grab the logic. Well, I was unable to find any UI for what fish I have collected or any kind of points that I gathered, which makes the game a bit bland. Other than that, it was quite satisfying to catch fish this way. I would suggest an inventory system to have different sorts of pins, and we can plant multiple pins at once with, of course, some sort of tradeoff. You have to make this game engaging by adding such elements, and I believe it could rise to the top charts if you do so.

I will be looking forward to its development and future projects. Added you to our list!

Thank you! Yeah it does kind of throw you into the middle of things in this demo, I'll make sure things are explained more in the actual game.

You should be able to click on the fish in the journal (opened with space) to be able to see some stats for them - how many you've caught, and the like.  There are quite a few elements in the works for the future that will hopefully make things more engaging as well. Thanks for checking it out!

Yeah, will look into future updates!
